Research
My main research area is the history of education in 20th century Germany, and my recent focus has been on the history of school rural study center (Schullandheim). The school rural study center, which is similar to a forest school, is an excellent educational practice that follows the course of the German new education movement. However, it has a history of being used for Nazi education policy, and functioning to cover the past of Nazi and war after World War II. I consider the school dormitory as an example of why ideal educational activities sometimes go in the wrong direction.
