Research Interests:
I am primarily interested in exploring the concept of “learning” from a historical perspective. My research focuses on women’s learning in modern Japan, specifically how women learned outside the formal school system, in everyday settings such as the home and the community. I also aim to understand how these learning experiences influenced their lives and interactions with society.
Currently, I am concentrating on women’s magazines published during the Meiji and Taisho periods and their readers. By analyzing the content of these magazines and how readers engaged with them, I seek to reconsider the structure of women’s active learning outside the school system. Through this research, I hope to find new perspectives that will deepen our understanding of the history of social education.
